ENRYCH People

Trustees are ultimately responsible for the work carried out within ENRYCH although their roles are non-executive. Trustees are responsible for defining the strategic direction of the organisation so as to create its future. The Charity Commission provides very clear guidance on what it regards as the hallmarks of an effective charity, making specific reference to the fact that “an effective charity is run by a clearly identifiable board or trustee body that has the right balance of skills and experience, acts in the best interests of the charity and its beneficiaries, understands its responsibilities and has systems in place to exercise them properly."

ENRYCH National Trustees

The national organisation of ENRYCH is currently governed by a 6-strong Board of Trustees:

Philip Allan, Chairman
Philip is our longest serving Trustee, having joined ENRYCH in 2003 and becoming the Chariman of Trustees in 2007. Prior to this, Philip ran his own educational publishing company for over thirty years and was involved with the Oxfordshire Cheshire Home for 15 years, as honorary treasurer and chairman of the management committee.

Philip Hammersley, Vice Chairman, CBE
When Philip first joined the ENRYCH Board of Trustees in September 2009, he was Chairman of our Leicestershire and Derbyshire Branch. Philip has been Chairman of various NHS Trusts, trustee of the National Space Centre and Chairman of the National Space Centre (Operations) Ltd.

Owen Kyffin, Treasurer
Owen is a partner at Oxfordshire accountancy firm, Whitley Stimpson. He has been a tax advisor since 1988 and a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation since 1990. Owen has personal experience of disability and has used this knowledge in his role as a trustee with ENRYCH.

Elizabeth Puszyk
Liz has been involved with ENRYCH since 1993, as chairman of the Aylesbury Advisory Group before joining the main board in 2004. As well as being a trustee for ENRYCH, Liz has worked at Stoke Mandeville Hospital in the National Spinal Injuries Centre, for the past 20 years. Liz has a physical disability, which she acquired some 30 years ago.

Louise Cartwright
Louise became a Trustee of ENRYCH in September 2010. She works in London as Royal Mail’s Head of Engagement and trained as an Occupational Psychologist over 10 years ago. In addition to being a volunteer with the Warwickshire Branch, Louise has a sister with a disability whom, she feels, would greatly benefit from ENRYCH’s support if it was to extend its geographical reach in future.

Dr Stephen Large
As a GP, Stephen has a keen interest in health and social care issues relating to disability. He spent 7 years as Chairman of the Operations Committee of Leonard Cheshire Disability and latterly Vice Chairman of the charity. Stephen was also responsible for setting up a small charity, which provides support to young acting and singing students.
