Enrych Partners with Derbyshire Mind

Enrych partnered with Derbyshire Mind and Whistlewood to enjoy a day of nature therapy at to help people living with disabilities and poor mental health to understand the importance of nature and how connecting with it can improve our mental and general wellbeing.

The 'Green Connections' day at Whistlewood Common offered those who came along the opportunity to take part in activities which would encourage them to connect with nature, others and themselves.

Whistlewood is a 10-acre, community owned permaculture woodland near Melbourne and is part of the National Forest. The woodland there has been planted by the community as a sustainable food forest.

The 'Green Connections' team was led by Helen and Anne from Whistlewood who are both experienced wellbeing professionals with extensive experience in NHS and private practice. The group was further supported by staff and volunteers from Derbyshire Mind, some of which have lived experience of mental ill-health themselves.

The group split into smaller groups some enjoyed forest bathing others explored the woodland looking for plants and flowers to use for the nature art session later in the day.

Feedback from the day was really positive, one participant said "Thank you for a fabulous day, everyone really enjoyed themselves!!"

Bev Cowley, Head of Community Developmnent "We cannot thank Derbyshire Mind and Whistlewood enough for offering us the opportunity to enjoy a Green Connections Day, everyone who came along had a fabulous time and were able to join in as little or as much as they felt they wanted to which was great, especially for those feeling anxious about meeting people they had not met before"

Enrych will be holding another Nature Therapy Session in October which will be run by Wildminds, find out more details on how to book by visiting the Activities and Groups page here
