It's Christmas!

The most wonderful time of the year as they say is moving closer to us. I am incredibly proud of what Enrych has done to help people throughout the recent times. Our PAs have done everything they can to help our clients to prepare for the Christmas period- there have been some cracking Christmas jumper efforts from everyone as well.

December has been an eventful month for Enrych. We enjoyed participating (and being the victors) in a football tournament in Leicester. We have also had a Christmas Craft Session at St Joseph’s Tea Rooms in Whitwick, while our Boccia and multi-sports event has attracted our greatest audience to date. We are thrilled that our Boccia and multi-sports event will still be going ahead on December 16th after worrying signs that it may not go ahead due to new Covid measures.

I personally think it is so important that this event does continue going ahead despite the news frenzy that can easily create panic. Attendees have said such positive words about the event such as “it really lifts your mood coming here when I otherwise felt quite isolated” and “I love having a good dance and like the variety of activities to have a go at free of judgement”. This is enough for me to signal its growing importance, especially as we get more people coming along week after week.

As the host of the Boccia and multi-sports event, I have recently found my confidence has improved to a certain degree that I feel I know how to measure the personalities of the attendees and make it fun and inclusive for everyone. The feedback I have received helps me to feel like the effort I have made to getting a grasp of how to be a good host is having a great impact and I hope to take this forward with me into the new year as well. I am hugely grateful to the Enrych staff for providing me support during the events that helps me to analyse which ways I can connect with the attendees the best.

The social interaction of our events is of utmost importance. The Christmas and new year period is supposed to be a time of joy and celebration and it is a celebration of the flexibility we have at Enrych to think outside of the box when it comes to our other events.

We have made some great connections recently who will allow us to invite our clients to come and embrace the Christmas spirit or even just to have a chat to prevent that feeling of isolation. As we head into the new year, we will have as many options available for people as possible. We could reintroduce our Zoom catch-ups that were popular at the beginning of the year. This would also allow clients and service users who haven’t seen each other for a long time to at least see each other in a virtual format.

As always, we strive to keep on top of our communications and we will do everything we can to communicate about all goings on with Enrych to our clients and service users so that we make sure we prevent isolation and promote social inclusion and independence this festive period!
