Henry has a strong passion for creativity, technology and hands-on making. His interests include 3D printing, 3D modelling software, turning 2D designs into 3D models, DIY and woodwork. He also volunteers at a local wood yard, where he helps create practical items such as benches and bird boxes, using his skills to give back to the community.
Henry is the first to say that his journey has had its ups and downs. During mainstream education he went through a difficult period where he fell in with the wrong crowd and was easily influenced into making poor choices. After this time he also struggled with a gambling addiction which made things even harder.
Henry’s mum began searching for support agencies and came across Enrych through a family friend. The aim was to help Henry reconnect with his community, build practical skills and develop a more positive routine. Since joining Enrych, Henry has been supported by Kat, who he describes as having a hugely positive influence on his life. With consistent encouragement and guidance, Henry began making better choices and finding a more positive direction.
Through Enrych’s support service, Henry has taken part in a range of activities, including air rifle shooting, developing his 3D printing skills and receiving support with everyday tasks such as shopping. This tailored support has helped him focus on his strengths and channel his interests into something rewarding.
With support, Henry has stopped gambling, gained employment and found work that gives him a real sense of purpose. He describes himself as feeling more mature and more trusting of others, and has now been with Enrych for nearly four years — the longest he has ever stayed with a care provider.
One of Henry’s proudest achievements includes visiting Parliament to speak with Rishi Sunak about the importance of further education opportunities for people with autism and additional support needs. He has also worked alongside Loughborough University on projects creating prosthetics for people with limb loss, using his technical skills to make a real difference.
Henry has ambitious plans for the future. He hopes to grow his own 3D printing business and eventually run a dedicated warehouse space. Enrych continues to support Henry as he works towards these goals, with Kat remaining a key part of his journey and ongoing success.
