Meet Louise

Before joining Enrych, Louise’s world felt much smaller. With her mum unwell and big changes happening in her life, Louise found herself unsure of where she fit in locally and lacking confidence to try new things. Although she has always been creative — enjoying sewing, cross stitch, paint-by-numbers and diamond art — opportunities to socialise and build friendships were limited.

Louise was introduced to Enrych around two years ago after support from her Shared Lives carer, Marian. At the time, she didn’t know the local area well and felt disconnected, but she decided to give Enrych a go. That decision marked the start of a huge change.

Through Enrych, Louise began receiving one-to-one support from Jason, which helped her build confidence and feel comfortable meeting new people. She got involved in a range of activities attending Enrych’s Feel Good Cafe and Boccia sessions and enjoyed trips out to National Trust locations such as Calke Abbey. These experiences not only helped Louise get to know her area better but also supported her to form meaningful friendships and feel part of her community.

Enrych also encouraged Louise to try new opportunities that pushed her confidence further. She took part in courses at Meadows Barn, where she learned cooking and gardening skills — growing tomatoes, radishes and strawberries — and joined wellbeing workshops that supported her mental health and independence.

One meaningful opportunity Louise took part in was volunteering. After hearing about the role through Alice at Meadow Barn View, she began volunteering at LOROS before Christmas, where she helps with tagging clothes, hanging stock and keeping the shop floor tidy. This experience has given Louise the chance to be part of a team, build routine and confidence, and contribute to her local community in a positive way.

Reflecting on her journey, Louise says:“Enrych has helped me feel more confident. I’ve made new friends, tried new things, and I know my local area much better. I now feel part of a community.”

Looking ahead, Louise is excited to continue her journey with Enrych. She hopes to keep making new friends and would love to start yoga in the future, as well as continue learning new skills such as knitting. For now, she’s happy doing what she’s doing — continuing her support with Jason and staying involved in activities that support her wellbeing.
